Built back in 1976 by Mazel Construction Ltd, the Summit Royal Condos is unlike most contemporary residential buildings in one respect: its façade features more brick than glass. Residents living in the 20-storey condo at 625 West Mall and 627 the West Mall have access to a fitness centre and sauna, indoor and outdoor pools, a gym, a playground, and underground parking. The building is also staffed by a concierge, making life just that much easier for those who call the Summit Royal home.
The Suites
Not only was 627 The West Mall and 627 The West Mall constructed before the glass tower trend really took off in Toronto, it also pre-dates the movement of pocket-sized Toronto condos. All of the homes in this Etobicoke building are spacious, with not one suite measuring in at less than 1,000 square feet.
Condos at the Summit Royal start at around 1,100 and reach to approximately 1,900 square feet. And with its array of two bedroom, two bedroom plus den, three bedroom, and three bedroom plus den homes, 625 The West Mall and 627 the West Mall makes a great place to raise a family. In terms of interior design, some units have been upgraded and updated over the years, while others are patiently awaiting a facelift.
The Neighbourhood
Torontonians have plenty of reasons for choosing to live in the Eringate, Centennial, and West Deane neighbourhood: some want to be within close reach of a major airport, others a sizeable green space or a vast shopping centre.
Centennial Park might be the closest — and the most unique — attraction in the neighbourhood. Residents living at 625 The West Mall and 627 the West Mall can drive just 5 minutes in order to reach this 525-acre park. In the summertime, park-goers can play a round of golf at the Centennial Park Golf Centre or go-kart at the Centennial Mini-Indy. When winter rolls around, this park stays just as busy, only visitors trade their golf clubs in for skis and snowboards. The Centennial Park Ski and Snowboard Centre is great for all skill levels: it features a beginner hill, an intermediate hill, and a hill dedicated to snowboarding.
Now for the shoppers: residents live just a short drive away from a number of indoor malls, as well as big-box stores and major grocery stores. Woodbine Mall takes just over 10 minutes to reach by car, while Sherway Gardens takes just under 10. The nearest No Frills is a 3-minute drive away — or a 15-minute walk — at the corner of Rathburn and Renforth. And while the Loblaws on the East Mall may be a bit far to walk to, the drive over to this store takes just 5 minutes by car thanks to the 427.
Transportation
Both drivers and those who rely on the TTC can get around the city with ease when living at the Summit Royal Condos. Residents with cars come to rely on the major highways surrounding the building: the 427, the 401, and the Gardiner Expressway.
As for those without cars of their own, the 112 West Mall bus comes in handy. Passengers can catch this bus from just outside the building; those looking to transfer onto the subway can ride the 112 all the way to Kipling Station on the Bloor-Danforth line, which takes around 20 minutes.
