About 645 Davenport Road — Castle Terrace
Sitting on the winding, tree-lined Davenport Road in Casa Loma neighbourhood, and set just slightly north of the downtown core, the Castle Terrace Condos by Victory Winfield Limited can’t help but attract many prospective buyers. Completed in 1998, these exquisite (and exclusive) residences are a longstanding fixture at 645 Davenport Road, between Bathurst Street and Spadina Road.
Luckily the building boasts some distinguished architecture, since its competition is the neighbouring Casa Loma castle, a short walk from the Castle Terrace Condos. The building is comprised of stacked townhomes that stand at 3 storeys tall, and the exterior features elegant stonework, plus direct entrances framed by classical columns. Captivating in their own right, these columns support sculpturally-detailed awnings adorned with sleek black metal balustrades.
In fact, the architecture’s meticulous detail continues throughout the rest of the façade at 645 Davenport. The building’s many elongated windows are framed elegantly, some of which sit within faux arches that reach up to the Castle Terrace Condos’ top level.
Moreover, 645 Davenport’s landscaped grounds are also impressive — especially to outdoorsy folk. The greenery is carefully cultivated, the trees have matured well over the years, and the flowers are breathtaking when they bloom. Additionally, residents are well cared for thanks to the building’s 24-hour gatehouse. This gatehouse also happens to lead drivers toward ample underground parking. As such, residents can graciously host their friends and family whenever they please.
The Suites
Toronto condos for sale at The Castle Terrace Condos’ rarely appear on the market, and not just because there's only 16 of them: they’re also generously sized. Their 2-level floor plans range from one bedroom suites that start at around 850 square feet, to two bedrooms units spanning approximately 1,250. Better yet, 645 Davenport’s upper level living spaces extend out onto private rooftop terraces with charming treetop views of the neighbourhood, while suites on the south side boast access to large garden and patios.
Inside, the refined design features gourmet kitchens. Open-concept and allowing a nice flow between dining and prep areas, home cooks can indulge their culinary imaginations, thanks to all their condos’ counter space and their top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances.
The atmosphere throughout 645 Davenport feels bright and fresh thanks to its abundance of natural lighting. Sunlight flows into the homes through the many window bays in each suite, and reflects off of their hardwood flooring. For some additional warmth, many of the suites even feature a fireplace.
The Neighbourhood
Davenport Road near the Castle Terrace Condos is largely lined with private residences, with a few commercial strips appearing intermittently as well as the George Brown College Casa Loma Campus. While that campus isn’t home to the college’s illustrious culinary arts program (that’s down on King Street East), there is, nevertheless, a vibrant food scene sitting just a block from these homes.
Dupont Street, the first major road south of 645 Davenport, is home to an array of delicious restaurants and cafes, which are concentrated around Spadina Road. Taking only around five or ten minutes to reach by foot from the Castle Terrace Condos, Dupont’s eateries are hard to resist.
However, considering the great kitchens in the suites, the nearby Loblaws also comes in handy for residents, especially since it’s around the corner at Dupont and Christie Street. Additionally, there’s a Shoppers Drug Mart set amongst Dupont’s nearby eateries, convenient for when essentials run low.
Transportation
Getting around the city is easy for residents. Bathurst and Spadina both serve drivers well when traveling south through the downtown core. Once downtown the latter features partitioned streets: separating streetcar and car lanes makes this busy roadway an efficient path for those attempting to reach the Gardiner Expressway.
Alternatively, drivers can also head east on Davenport to Belmont Street. This merges into Aylmer Avenue, which then become Rosedale Valley Road and leads toward Bayview Avenue. While it sounds confusing, residents will likely grow quite familiar with all the name changes, since this is a great route toward the Don Valley Parkway.
Last but not least, even residents who don’t drive can get around the city easily. Dupont Station, on the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line, is less than a ten-minute walk away. The 7 Bathurst Bus is quite convenient as well, as it take riders south to Bathurst Station on the Bloor-Danforth subway line in about five minutes.
